Glass Stone Magnets & Bottle cap Magnets

Items needed:
Glass Stones (Clear, not colored or iridescent)
Clear craft glue
Round magnets
Picture (Be sure it’s a small one)
Nickel or quarter.
Glitter Glue

My favorite place to shop is “The Dollar Tree” all kinds of neat stuff for a $1. I picked up a pack of clear glass stones; originally they were for my fish tank. I got them home and opened the netting and washed them I laid them on some old newspapers to dry them. When I returned to pick them up I noticed that they kind of magnified the print. I kept a few out and with those few…this is what I came up with.

1. Pick out a Picture you like: It can be a photograph of a family member or friend. Maybe you have a brochure or something of your favorite sports team, then there are all those neat magazines your sure to get in the mail. It this picture I chose one with my Niece and Nephew.

2. Place the glass stone over the picture you want to use and be sure the image will fit.

3. Now that it’s lined up, there are several things you can do. With the smaller stones you can usually take a Nickel or dime (Quarter if you have the lager stones) and trace around the image. Then cut it out and place it on the back of the stone. As for me, I just put a bit of clear glue on the back of the stone and place it over the picture directly.

4. While that’s drying let get the Bottle Cap magnet started. Take the nickel or quarter and center it over the picture you want. Taking a pencil trace around the edges of the nickel.

5. Carefully cut the picture out at the trace lines you made. Place it in the bottle cap be sure it fits in there easily.

6. Put a small bit of glue in the bottle cap, and then place the picture inside it.

7. So let they dry for a bit. Lets get back to that glass stone. From here it’s easy enough. It should be dry enough to cut out along the edges. Place a small bit of glue on the backside of the Picture, and then gently press the magnet on top. Don’t press down hard that causes the glue to just swoosh out and stick along the sides. Set that aside to let it dry, then place it on your fridge, locker, or anything that it can magnetically stick to! This same step is used for the Bottle Cap, but there’s one more thing we can do to the bottle cap magnet!!

8. Now that the Bottle Cap magnet is dry, it looks cute on it’s own but here are a few ideas to give it your own personal touch. Before you glue the picture in the bottle cap. Use Spray paint and give it a nice glossy coat of a color you want. You can even use craft pain and then use glossy clear spray paint. After the picture has dried in the magnet I put a small ring around the picture in Glitter glue just to make it cuter! Another idea is to put a small stone on top of the picture!
